Simple Crepes with Salted Caramel Sauce
Crepes sound intimidating to cook at home, but with a good whisk and a little patience it’s easy whip up a batch for an extra special breakfast or simple dessert. We love the salty sweet combination in this recipe, but feel free to get creative with the toppings.
Simple Crepes with Caramel Sauce
Serves 2 (2 crepes each)
- ½ cup flour
- 1 egg
- ¾ cup whole milk
- Pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- Caramel sauce
- Vanilla ice cream
- Sea salt
In a medium bowl, whisk together egg, milk and melted butter. Continue to whisk while slowly adding flour and salt. Preheat a medium pan and coat with butter. When batter is smooth, pour ¼ cup into the hot pan and tilt to spread batter evenly across the bottom of the pan. When the crepe starts to curl at the edges, flip and cook until golden brown. Repeat. Divide crepes between 2 plates. Serve with a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt.
