Neat? Up? Straight up? Straight up now tell me, do you really wanna love me forever? What does all of this mean at the bar?
Well, that last one would just be a terrible pickup line (unless you happen to say it to a huge Paula Abdul fan). But the first three are ways to order your drink. Let’s go through them—and other ways—to find out what they mean.
Shaken vs. Stirred
If the cocktail calls for fruit juices, cream liqueurs, egg, dairy, or some other kind of thick or flavorful mixer, shake it up to mix all these substantial parts more evenly. You’ll also get faster chilling and a cloudy appearance for the drink.
