Blood Orange Margarita
(AKA The Sunset Swisher)

grapefruit_small

Margaritas are not only the perfect sidekicks for Mexican dishes, but also a perfect drink for any time of year. We love them for their bright colors and citrusy kick – that’s why this super easy margarita recipe from Smitten Kitchen caught our eye. It’s made with blood oranges, giving it a deep red glow – and earning the nickname “The Sunset Swisher” among the Plated team after a long happy hour er, meeting. The following recipe serves two, but we encourage you to make a big batch – you’ll want to share this one!

Blood Orange Margarita

Serves 2

  • ½ cup blood orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons triple sec or cointreau
  • 7 tablespoons white tequila

Combine the ingredients in a pitcher. Divide between two glasses and serve over ice. Garnish with blood orange or lime slices. Sit back, sip and enjoy!
